The technologies developed during TechOceanS have enhanced our ability to understand the ocean’s interconnected systems while offering potential applications to industries like fisheries and aquaculture. The data these technologies can generate supports conservation efforts and provides critical insights for policymakers. To ensure broad accessibility, TechOceanS technologies were designed to be low-cost and compatible with existing infrastructure. Furthermore, TechOceanS collaborated with IOC-UNESCO to establish a project community containing new “ocean best practices” for training and monitoring ocean systems.

TechOceanS has delivered an unprecedented acceleration in the diversity and capability of sensors and measurement systems. What started as an ambitious vision to advance ocean measurement technology has now culminated in a series of groundbreaking achievements that have exceeded our expectations.
